How to Make an Avocado Hair Mask at Home
Did you know that avocados can work wonders for your hair? Yes! Avocados can be used for so much more than tasty guacamole. Avocados are packed with nutrients and fats that can help strengthen and nourish your hair, stimulate hair growth, and bring you that shine that you’ve always wanted. At Brilliance New York, we’re all for beautiful hair and natural products. Try these tips for how to make an avocado hair mask at home.
A hair mask acts as a super strength conditioner. While store-bought conditioners are convenient, they may not always get the job done. Most store-bought conditioners only coat the shaft of your hair silicones. A hair mask, on the other hand, is more intense and the fats and oils that go into making them sit on your hair longer to nourish and repair damaged hair.
The great thing about using all-natural, food-grade ingredients is that there is no doubt whether or not the products you are using are good for you. With store-bought, mass-produced products, you never know what chemicals are going on your scalp and in your body.
To make this DIY avocado hair mask at home you’ll need a few ingredients and a couple of utensils. You’ll need:
1 large, ripe avocado
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 Tbsp. honey
1 Tbsp. unsweetened almond milk
A hair cap or warm towel
Mix the avocado and olive oil into a bowl and mash it until it becomes a paste. Then add the honey and almond milk. Keep mixing until you’ve smoothed out all of the lumps. You want to have a thick and creamy texture that looks fluffy.
You’ll want to apply the hair mask to dry hair that is combed out and free of any hair product for best use. Section your hair off and apply the avocado hair mask to your hair, rubbing it in. The hair mask is great for repairing and nourishing damaged hair, so show the ends or your hair and split ends some love.
Once you’ve applied the avocado hair mask to all of your hair, you should throw on that hair cap or wrap it all up in a warm towel and relax for about an hour or two.
After you’ve given the hair mask some time to sit under your cap for an hour or two, you can go ahead and rinse it out. Make sure that you’ve washed out all of the avocado and shampoo and condition your hair like normal. Dry and style your hair and enjoy the added shine!
